Say What?...Resolutions

After December 2024 has settled into the annals of history, I am certain my January 2025 dreams will be filled with hopes of finding truth in a saying I once read: “In my dream world, books are free, chocolate is healthy, and reading makes you thin.” Ah, the perfect utopia where my TBR (to-be-read) pile costs zilch, my late-night chocolate binges are a healthful delight, and every page I turn whittles away at my waistline while gifting me the ability to at the very least, speed-read.

So, here I sit, armed with grandiose New Year's resolutions: to read more, exercise regularly, and perhaps nibble a bit less on chocolate. But who am I kidding? By mid-January, I’ll probably be negotiating with myself that walking from the parking lot into the bookstore is indeed cardio, and if I read while on the treadmill, it’s essentially a productivity power-up, right? It’s these little self-bargains that make life oh-so-amusing, don’t you think?

After all, I know as well as the next person that balance is key, and if my dream world isn’t within reach, I might as well blend reality with a sprinkle of humor and a dash of whimsy. So, I’ll indulge a little and put off thinking about January until, well, January. Cheers to New Year's resolutions!

Embracing The Christmas Spirit

No matter where you call home in the USA, the spirit of Christmas brings joy, warmth, and thoughts of getting together to hearts. My husband, Tom,  and I have come to cherish the unique holiday experience that Georgia offers. The mild and sunny weather, the friendly spirit of the Georgian people, and the absence of Christmas snow are all part of the holiday charm. The sounds of children’s laughter and holiday music, the smell of fragrant poinsettias and cinnamon spice, and the brightness of local light displays all contribute to the festive spirit.

Family and friends are an important part of our Christmas Celebrations. Together, memorable stories are told and are sure to be passed from generation to generation. Every Christmas, the Church fills our souls with the reason for the Season, the Holy Birth. Special music, pageants, nativity scenes, and the reenactment of our Savior’s birth preserve the reason for the Season.

While our faces may not turn rosy from frosty air like in other parts of the country, we share in the holiday glow and excitement of celebrating the Holy birth. We wish you all a hearty Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season. From our house and hearts to yours, Happy Holidays!

Love in a World Without Pennies

Once upon a time, celebrating Valentine’s Day came cheaply. You could buy your kids penny candy tucked inside a little cardboard heart‑shap...
