Stay Spiced, Stay Bright

Okay, picture this: a plump, spiced pumpkin chilling in a sun-drenched field. It’s got that bold orange glow, practically humming with autumn vibes. It's got it all: warmth, flavor, and a whole lot of seasonal swagger. Now imagine that same pumpkin slowly fading to a pale, ghostly white. Still called “Pumpkin,” it smells vaguely spicy, but what about the richness? The texture? The color? All changed. What’s left is a whisper of what once was orange.

Now hang with me. I promise I’m not just daydreaming about pie toppings. My brain took a detour and turned this into a metaphor. Because that pumpkin? It’s kind of like us. The transformation isn’t just skin-deep; it’s soul-deep.

Just like a pumpkin loses its color when it’s drained of its essence, we can lose our spiritual spark when we let our faith run dry. So how does that happen?

Faith fades when we forget to feed it. Pumpkins need soil, sunshine, and water. Faith needs community, reflection, and purpose. Skip the nourishment, and things start to wilt.

Faith fades when we swap depth for distraction. The world’s noisy with all the scrolling, streaming, swiping. It’s easy to drown out the quiet voice of conviction. That’s why even a single paragraph from God’s Word each day can be a game-changer. It’s like spiritual espresso; small but mighty.

Faith fades when we marinate in negativity. Bad news is everywhere. If we’re not careful, we end up soaking it up like a sponge. And before you know it, we’re foggy, drained, and wondering where our color went.  It is unsettling that "bad" news in this world is escalating.  I've found that focusing on "TV" negativity can overshadow what’s truly worth believing in, and I know if I'm not careful, I risk getting lost in the brain fog of it all.

So here’s the pep talk: Don’t let your pumpkin fade. Stay spiced. Stay rooted. Stay vibrant. Faith isn’t something you stumble into. It’s something you choose to preserve, like your favorite fall recipe.

And to the young folks who admire Charlie Kirk for his work in faith, keep going. Keep growing. Keep trusting the Lord through the Holy Spirit. Surround yourself with believers who lift you up, challenge you, and help you shine. Because faith thrives in connection, and God’s got you, heart and soul, in His hands.

Whether young or old, God has a plan and purpose for each one of us. Isaiah 55:10-11 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

The drained pumpkin analogy serves as a plea to prevent your color from fading. Stay spiced. Stay rooted. Stay vibrant. Because faith, like flavor, isn’t something you stumble into; it’s something you choose to preserve.

Love in a World Without Pennies

Once upon a time, celebrating Valentine’s Day came cheaply. You could buy your kids penny candy tucked inside a little cardboard heart‑shap...
